The best SEO expert in Dublin for your business is someone who can show you real results, explain their plan in plain English, and covers both Google and AI search tools like ChatGPT. Check their own rankings, ask for examples, get a written plan with monthly tasks, and walk away from anyone who guarantees the number one spot.
Search “SEO expert Dublin” and you’ll get agencies, freelancers, directories and ads. Most of them sound the same. This guide is the checklist I’d use if I were a Dublin business owner choosing someone to look after my website.
What does an SEO expert actually do?
An SEO expert makes your website easier to find on Google and, more and more, in AI answers from ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and Perplexity. The work usually falls into four areas:
- Technical SEO: fixing speed, indexing, broken pages and mobile problems so Google can crawl your site properly.
- On-page SEO: making each service page match what people search, with clear headings, answers and internal links.
- Local SEO: your Google Business Profile, reviews and local listings, so you show up in the Dublin map results.
- Authority: getting your business mentioned and linked from trusted Irish websites.
In 2026 a good expert also checks how AI tools describe your business. If ChatGPT recommends three plumbers in Dublin and you’re not one of them, that’s lost work. I explain this in more detail in my guide on how to get recommended by ChatGPT.
Freelance SEO expert or Dublin SEO agency?
Both can work. A freelancer usually costs less and you deal with the person doing the work. An agency has more people and can handle bigger sites, but you may be passed to a junior account manager. I compare both properly in SEO consultant vs SEO agency in Ireland.
The real question is simpler: who will actually do the work each month, and can you talk to them?
10 questions to ask before you hire
- Can you show me sites you’ve ranked? Ask for real examples, ideally in a similar industry or in Ireland.
- Where does your own website rank? An SEO expert who can’t rank themselves is a warning sign.
- What will you do in the first 90 days? You want a written plan, not “we’ll optimise your site”.
- Who does the work? The person you meet, a junior, or an outsourced team?
- How do you report? Look for leads, calls and enquiries, not only rankings and traffic.
- How do you build links? If the answer is vague or “we have a network”, be careful.
- Do you cover AI search? Ask how they’d get you mentioned in ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews.
- Who owns the work? Your content, your Google Business Profile and your analytics should stay yours.
- What’s the contract length? Three to six months is normal. Twelve-month lock-ins are a risk.
- What do you need from me? Good SEO needs your input: photos, reviews, answers to customer questions.
Red flags to watch for
- “Guaranteed number one on Google.” Nobody controls Google’s results.
- Hundreds of backlinks for a low monthly price. These are usually spam and can hurt you.
- No access to your own Google Search Console or analytics.
- Reports full of numbers but no mention of enquiries or sales.
- Pages of thin AI-written content stuffed with “Dublin” in every sentence.
How much does an SEO expert in Dublin cost?
Most Dublin SEO agencies that publish their prices start at around €700 to €1,500 a month for local businesses. Competitive national campaigns often run €3,000 a month or more. Hourly rates usually sit between €50 and €150. I break the numbers down in how much SEO costs in Ireland.
Cheaper isn’t always worse, and expensive isn’t always better. Judge the plan, not the price tag.
How long before you see results?
For a local Dublin business with a decent website, you can often see movement in the map pack within two to three months. Competitive keywords like “solicitor Dublin” or “SEO Dublin” can take six to twelve months. Anyone promising page one in two weeks is selling something else.
What I do differently
I work directly with each client, so you always talk to the person doing the work. Every plan covers Google rankings, your Google Business Profile and AI search visibility together, because your customers now use all three. I report on enquiries and calls, not vanity numbers.

FAQ
Who is the best SEO expert in Dublin?
There’s no single best. The right SEO expert for you has proven results in your type of business, a clear written plan and honest reporting. Shortlist two or three and ask each the questions above.
Do I need someone based in Dublin?
Not always. Local knowledge helps, but most SEO work happens online. What matters more is experience with Irish search results and local SEO.
Can an SEO expert get me into ChatGPT answers?
No one can guarantee it, but good SEO plus consistent business information, reviews and mentions on trusted sites makes it far more likely.
Is SEO better than Google Ads?
They do different jobs. Ads bring traffic straight away while you pay. SEO takes longer but keeps bringing enquiries without paying per click. Many Dublin businesses use both.
